We had two nights in room 5. A lovely airey room with good king size bed and a sofa. Mini fridge and charging points and enough sockets. Nice bathroom with shower. Michelle was very pleasant and attentive at breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. Simon does a great English cooked breakfast. A lovely couple. Definitely will be back to stay again.

Tips:

If you like real ale, definitely give The Waiting Room a look-in. Great beer and cider. Best pub in Whitby.

We had room 4 it was a very low bed only 4 or five inches from floor and could realy do with a mattress topper as mattress wasn't very comfortable. Also chairs where realy low in the room struggle to get in and out of great if you are a realy short person . On the plus side .. clean and breakfast was realy 5 star and very attentive staff .

Lovely little guest house . Takes about 5/10 minutes walk down to the swing bridge in the centre of Whitby. Rooms clean and tidy. Michelle greets you with a smile and is so helpful at breakfast time with whatever you want. Simon cooks a lovely full English too. You can come and go as you please.

Tips:

Just go out and explore I'd say the best way. Take a walk up to The Abbey and stop for a pint at Abbey Brewery.

31st December 2024:

Having stayed at the corra lynn before we didn't have to look any further for somewhere to stay in whitby. Michelle & Simon are excellent hosts , the breakfast are scrumptious. The B & B is ideally situated for the town and beach with good parking. Our room was spacious with a nice comfy bed and large walk in shower , we could also see the abbey from the window. We both look forward to seeing you both again.

Tips:

There are ample places to eat in whitby but booking is advisable. Our choices were the vault which had an amazing 3 course Sunday lunch and atmosphere, the cosa nostra had an excellent choice of Italian food and for seafood we went the marine and the crab was superb.

Fantastic location and a friendly, welcoming environment. Clean well thought out rooms, comfortable beds, excellent bathrooms (beautiful toiletries. Ideally situated for travel links. Onsite parking facilities and the best breakfast in terms of quality of produce, selection, taste and presentation. 5-10 minute walk into town or the beach with the beautiful Pannett Park just around the corner. Corra Lynn is my first choice of accommodation for my Whitby visits. First class and highly recommended

Tips:

Plenty of local restaurants, booking advisable at busy periods. Pizza West is a must. Pannett Park and the museum are worth a visit. Bus stop around the corner for the x4 to travel to Runswick Bay or Staithes. Walk from Whitby to Sandsend along the beach, tides dependant. Lots of walks to do, Cleveland Way, Ruswarp, Cinder Track

Nice large room. Comfortable mattress and great shower. Very low furniture (chairs and bed frame) is a bit odd in a good size room. Parking greatly appreciated and breakfast was really tasty. Would be nice to be able to borrow phone chargers for those of us who always forget. We tried to charge from the tv usb but it didn’t work. If the parking disks are free maybe you could provide these available for your guests as it would make parking elsewhere in town easier

Thank you for your review and pleased that you enjoyed your stay. The bed is a little low in room four, I can't say I would agree for the chairs, personally i find them comfortable. If you stay with us again, have a look at our room 3, it has a bedstead which is higher and a different style sofa. We do have an abundance of chargers, mainly which have been left in the rooms by previous guests, so always feel free to ask and if we have one are happy to lend. For the parking permits especially for the on street scratch cards, there is a charge to the business, as we provide parking, and to maintain competitive rates we do not purchase them. You can of course get the parking discs from tourist information. regards Simon

21st October 2024:

We had a nice stay at Corra Lynn, the room was clean and spacious (could do with a curtain as well as the window blind) with a small fridge and tea/coffee etc, and the en-suite shower was very good. Location was great, plus parking, which was a real bonus. Our only disappointment was the Contact-less check-in, which just doesn't suit us, even though the instructions/keys etc were all very clear and straight forward - it just felt a bit impersonal. Thanks.

28th September 2024:

The first thing I look for is parking and this guest house has parking on the front, for every day vehicles. If you visit Whitby, you will know what a nightmare this can be. The hosts and staff are friendly and accommodating; full of information about the local area. The breakfast was also very good - in quality and quantity, as is the banana cake. The room was clean and tidy and fairly modern: the loo being separate from the large walk-in shower. It had a large TV, a large comfortable bed, kettle, hairdryer and towels. We even had a view of the Abbey thrown in. Being an old Victorian property, there are some eclectic touches - mismatched doors and the stairwell to the top is of its type (no pall-bearers landing half way up, lol). There is no room cleaning but you can help yourself to extras and towels are collected and replaced if left outside the room. Some people prefer the privacy of not having room service. I would book to stay here again as it suited our needs.

Tips:

The location is within (easy!) walking distance of the museum, town, bus and train stations and the beach and harbour. If you like fish, there are plenty of restaurants and fish bars. We found the fish very good, no matter where we ate. There is not a lot of other choices but this is a harbour town. If you like walking, photography or twitching, there is the Cleveland Way and the moors, along with other places not far by car or public transport. You can take a bus North to Middlesbrough or South to Scarborough.

Thank you for you lovely review and pleased you enjoyed your stay. Accommodation with parking in Whitby is a bit of a rarity and especially in busy periods a real bonus. We stopped room tidies as part of Covid, for stays over 5 nights we will though change the linen and do clean of the room and always happy to change towels and the likes. For food, you're right, there are a lot of fish and chips, however, if your happy to travel a short distance, there is quite a bit of choice. Sneaton Castle is very good on the outskirts of the town and there is a great pub called the Eskside in Castelton which has a super restaurant. Hope to see you again. regards Simon

We discovered the hand washes and shower gel in a restaurant in York, it is expensive but we think worth it. I just spent ages smelling my hand after first using it. Look forward to seeing you again. regards Simon

25th July 2024:

Corra Lynn was genuinely the best B&B we had ever stayed in! The location and parking was fantastic and from the booking process right through to check out, everything was made to be as simple and stress free as possible. You all made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Everywhere was clean and modern and we felt so comfortable during our stay. Extra little touches such as providing iced water in the mornings and having a fan available in the room made all the difference. The food at breakfast was out of this world and everything from the quality of the food, the friendly, bubbly service from Michelle and Carys and Simon's culinary skills set us up nicely for the day!! It was a pleasure to have stayed at Corra Lynn and I will certainly recommend you to anyone thinking of coming to Whitby as well as hopefully coming back to stay in the future ourselves. Thank you!

Tips:

For anyone wanting a break from driving, the buses through the local area to Scarborough and Robin Hoods Bay are easy to pick up and are great value. The Cleveland Way walk from Whitby to Robin Hood's Bay provides some fantastic views, but go prepared, the walk can be challenging in parts! Whitby Coastal Cruises offer a great variety of trips for those who enjoy scenic trips. Clara's kiosk on West Cliff is a short walk from the hotel and great to have an ice cream (or hot chocolate dependent on the weather!) whilst watching the sunset.

19th July 2024:

We had a lovely few days staying at the Corra Lynn. Hosts Michelle and Simon are very nice and welcoming. Our room was very clean and spacious, with a plentiful supply of tea, coffee and other such items that we required during our stay. The full English breakfast is freshly cooked and delicious - there are plenty of other options if a full English isn't for you and various dietary needs are catered for. The Corra Lynn is ideally situated for exploring Whitby on foot, being only a short walk from the town centre, harbour and beach areas, although Whitby is a hilly town, so the walk may challenge those who are less able. The Corra Lynn has it's own off road parking space at the front, which is fantastic in a town where practically all on road parking is restricted and permit controlled. We certainly recommend a stay at the Corra Lynn!

Tips:

There are many places to eat in the town, all within walking distance, but they do get busy, so it's best to book in advance. The closest place we ate at and without having to walk up or down any hills/steps, was Pizza West, which, as the name suggests, does a great range of pizzas and a few other pasta dishes. The old cobbled streets across the river, on the east side, are definitely worth a walk, where you will find many small independently owned shops and eating places. For those who are able, the 199 steps (steep!) will take you up to the ruined abbey and a great view across the town.

Simon and Michelle made us very welcome. The room was nice and clean. Loved the idea of the checking in system where you keys are outside in a a box with a code they give you to get yourself at 1pm and you can park from 10.30am which is fantastic as whitby is very difficult trying to get parked up. The breakfast was good and a range of different choices. This is the second time we have been. Highly recommended

Couldn’t fault this lovely B&B. Hosts are brilliant and so welcoming. Room was great, possibly the best nights sleep we’ve had whilst travelling. Spacious, spotlessly clean and with everything you could want for a comfortable stay. Loved the shower and decor plus private parking (like gold dust in Whitby) and a home cooked, hearty breakfast (the home made muesli is also exceptional) What can we say .. we’ll be back. 5*

Tips:

Whitby has something for everyone but a must is the church and abbey (as long as you face the 199 steps!). Too many restaurants, bars, little curiosity shops and history to list. Whitby is a place you can keep on exploring and finding new things each time.

Parking space on site is a bonus and saves having to find on street parking. Breakfast was great. Beautiful guest house. Very comfortable, great shower, plenty of fluffy towels and the pillows and bed are good. There is a fab provided (it was warm whilst we were there). Michelle and Simon (and children!) are very friendly and will give local advice if requested. The breakfast was delicious and some nice choices. I would have liked a fresh fruit and yogurt option as well. There is tea and coffee in the room plus milk and sugar sachets. The addition of a few herbal t-bags and decaf coffee would be good and possibly hot chocolate if staying in the colder months. All in all, a really good stay and we would return.

Tips:

Ten minute walk to the beach and town. Petrol station nearby. Lovely park 5 minute walk. Restaurants - we liked The Edge, Magpie, The Fisherman's Wife. Best crab sandwich in the north of England is at Sandsend at the Hart Inn. Cocktails at The Moon and Sixpence. Local produce at the Whitby Hamper on Flowergate (go to Sherlocks cafe opposite as well) and the Dispensary on Skinner Street. There are good bars on both streets if you want to avoid the busy centre.

Simon and Michelle are very welcoming hosts and are happy to help with any queries their guests have. Their breakfasts are great with a wide range of choices. The wife loved the porridge.

Tips:

We recommend The Magpie Cafe, best to book though. The Granby hotel/pub has a good atmosphere and the food was good value for money. The two hour coastal boat trip to see the wildlife. Further affield the James Herriot museum in Thirsk was good, nice Italian restaurant nearby called Biancos.

I enjoyed my stay and had no problems with my room. I only gave 4 on location because 5 would be a sea view! The views were wide and attractive nonetheless. Generally close to town, Pannett Park, bus stops and west cliff I can't complain about the Corra Lynn's location. I was made welcome and Ian and Michelle could not do enough to help with anything. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful with plenty of options. All in all I would be happy to stay there again.

Tips:

I like the west cliff ror views and walking. It's close to the Spa Pavilion and the beach. It's a short walk to the park, shops and station. The Little Angel pub is close by and worth visiting. And there are loads of great spots to take pictures.

Thank you for your review and pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. We only have one room with a very distant sea view which is our room 5. However what we lack in views we make up with parking. I think there are only 4 B&B's in the town that offer both, but I do see the appeal of the sea view. Look forward to seeing you again. regards Simon

21st July 2023:

We enjoyed our stay very much. We felt the location with parking was perfect for us with the bus stop almost outside. The room was large and spacious perfect for our twin room needs. Our bathroom was again perfect for us with a large step in shower. We loved the fresh cooked breakfast at our designated/chosen time. The things we would change 1. Not fixable is being overlooked by the apartments next door but with the blinds it didn't bother us too much. 2. The water in the shower maintained pressure very well but temp was set a bit low or was difficult to maintain. 3. We found dust on the window sill, small fridge and a spill on the bedside cabinet next to the single bed. Some of the corners needed a re-dust (Just trying to explain the cleanliness score). Overall though everywhere else especially the bathroom were very clean. 4. We would have liked some very low music in the background of the breakfast room. We are sure it's different all the time depending upon the dynamics of your guests but for this group it was uncomfortably quiet at times. 5. And very personally I need a chair to sit on when I come through the front door before I attempt the stairs as you don't have a lounge. I sat on your chest in the hall but wouldn't do that normally. Overall we enjoyed the peace and quiet of our room especially at night. And we consider the other points we've made very minor. We would definitely stay again and have recommended it to some friends who are considering staying in Whitby next year.

Tips:

Use the open top bus with it's stop outside the B&B it's a cheap and regular method of getting around and learning about Whitby. Especially for those of us with mobility and health issues. We found Pizza West the in place in Whitby for a party so very noisy (too noisy for us) but pizza was so scrummy. Long Kings Chinese was decent enough food but you need cash to pay. The Fisherman's Wife was definitely worth visiting thank you for the recommendation. The afternoon cake and coffee at the youth hostel cafe at the Abbey were very fresh..

Thank you for your review and pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. Regarding cleaning, on busy weeks we will run through the rooms cleaning all main surfaces, with a thorough deep clean once every couple of weeks, so there may be instances where there is some dust in the room but I will pick up with our cleaner. For the shower temp, I will get that looked at, I like hot shower as well, so yes it would irk me. And than you for recommending us to friends, word of mouth recommendations are always really valuable to us. regards Simon

My wife and I have stayed at corra lynn 5 times. We wouldn't dream of stopping anywhere else. They have off road parking. Which is an added bonus. Breakfast was lovely. Simon will cook almost anything. I had full breakfast. My wife enjoyed the salmon and poached eggs. The walk down to the town is a very pleasant ten minute walk. There is a convenient bus stop right outside. Which takes you down to the town. If you don't fancy the walk. Which were every 30 min. . Next year we will be hopefully stopping for our sixth time with Michelle and Simon. The only drawback is that our stay goes far to quick. Xx

Ideal location 10 minutes from the swing bridge. Off-road parking. Away from the hustle and bustle so quiet at night. Great choice of breakfast items and nothing too much trouble. Nice people trying to provide decent facilities for visitors - and succeeding!

Tips:

Leave your car parked. Use tye train or the bus. Walk to Robin Hood's Bay on the cinder track or the coast path. Go to the Abbey. Visit Scarborough Castle. Scenic ride on X93 or C94 but little else to commend Scarborough. Read Michelle's eating out guide. Trenchers is v good. Moutreys is typically Italian but portions are HUGE! Beware. Wow! What a fantastic little B+B. Everything was brilliant, a good night sleep, comfortable beds, excellent size rooms, no road noise or traffic problems and personal parking, easy access to Whitby, 5 mins walk and you are in the town. Brilliant, Michelle and Simon couldn't have done more for us both. Breakfast amazing. Cheese and Leek Sausages... out of this world! Everything to perfection and clean. Michelle was bubble and Simon was only too happy to help, this couple have it to a 't', even looking after their own children, who were quiet and respectful and lovely to speak to. We will stay and again and recommend to anybody wanting a retreat, steam train holiday, break or rest to go. Simon, please start selling your Cheese and Leek Sausage, I would buy them all the time, think of the extra income!

Tips:

Excellent on site parking. Hosts are brilliant and both cook. Even a 'postcard' with stamp to send home, just like old times. Good 5 minutes walk into town, bus stop right out side the hotel for most denotations from Whitby. Quiet and brilliant for a good break. 110%. Best room number 1, top of the hotel, looking out over Whitby to the Abbey, couldn't of asked for more!

Thank you for your review and pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. We did used to have a breakfast buffet pre covid, but decided not re introduce it. The buffet mainly had the cereals, juice and preserves, all of which are still available but now listed on our breakfast order sheet. For the fruits and yoghurt, we found that these were rarely eaten, so led to a high level of waste. If people ask then we're more than happy to order them in. As you will appreciate, managing costs at the moment are key to a small business, so especially for breakfast we look to focus on providing choice and quality in our main offering. Hopefully we will get to see you next year, and a smashing breakfast is our farmers salad, worth having a try of. Saute potatoes with crispy fried bacon, on salad, with mustard honey dressing and poached eggs. It's superb. regards Simon

19th July 2022:

Everything about our stay at Corra Lynn was excellent, from the time that I made the initial booking to our goodbyes. Michelle and Simon are the perfect B&B hosts - welcoming, friendly, efficient and with an eye for the little things that make one's stay enjoyable. We were in Room 2, the family room. Plenty big enough for two of us, with the extra bed useful for putting clothes etc on. Great shower with plenty of hot water. No view but a big window provided light and air. I liked the way that the room had been modernised but had still kept some original features. Breakfast was great - plenty of it and real choice. We could have extra toast, tea and coffee if we wanted it. Lovely room too. Good little touches: extra supplies from tea bags to loo rolls were easily accessible from a table in the entrance. Lovely handwash and body wash in the en suite. Nice big fluffy towels - we are big people and these were really generous towels. The off street onsite parking is a real bonus. Well done, Michelle and Simon. Keep up the excellent work. You give the impression that you really enjoy what you are doing!

Tips:

It's a long walk up to the Abbey. Consider driving up there and using the on site car park. If not, the HopOnHopOff bus does go up there. If you can get in, the Magpie cafe is fantastic. Not just fish and chips. My grilled plaice was delicious. We also ate at the Marine Restaurant - had a fantastic meal and friendly service (despite what it says on Trip Advisor). We did the Coast & Wildlife Cruise and saw lots of seals. Someone on the boat commented that you usually see dolphins too but we did not.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a lovely review for ourselves and some hints/tips for other guests. Our towels are from Marks & Spencers and we love their big fluffy bath sheets so bought them for all our guest rooms. The hand wash/body wash is from a small independent company which we found whilst shopping in York - it is called Bath House and their products are divine. The Hop on/Hop off bus is the yellow open topped bus from practically outside our B&B (10 seconds walk) and is great for a tour of Whitby. Thanks again, it was so lovely to read your review. Thanks Michelle.

My wife and I arrived at this wonderful hotel to a lovely warm reception, Michelle and her husband couldn't have done more. We had a beautiful bedroom with a very comfy bed and lovely en-suite. In the morning we were welcomed into the breakfast room to enjoy a class full English breakfast with many choices The hotel is just round the corner from the bus rout into town. Value for money? indeed it is, and we have pleasure in highly recommend it. thank you for a wonderful stay.

Tips:

The hotel is very well placed for all that Whitby has to offer, and we have to say, Whitby has much to offer. Sample the scrumptious Fish & chips, the boat rides are a must, Robin Hoods bay, and a lot more.

23rd May 2022:

I met Michelle who is lovely and very welcoming and obliging. Whilst I had a small breakfast of bacon and egg, it was very good quality bacon and was cooked to perfection. The shower gel and soap in the room is delicious! Corra Lynn is away from the main hustle and bustle but only a 10 minute walk from the town centre. Private parking is a bonus in Whitby which alleviated a lot of pressure. My room was lovely and the comfiest bed I have ever slept on! I will gladly go again next time I am in Whitby.

Tips:

We went to an Italian restaurant on the other side of the bridge, Moutreys, which is very nice. A lovely hour or so walk along the beach/prom to Sandsend if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town.

We loved our stay. Great communication from the start. Perfect location made even better by having off street parking. Breakfast was lovely, with a lot of choice A lovely touch the children left a crabbing net and note in the room for our son The only little issue was that the bed was rather hard

Tips:

The tour bus is great. A ticket lasts all day and you can get on and off as much as you like. It gives you the chance to see so much A thing to note if you’ve vegetarian but eat fish all restaurants cook their fish in beef fat. I had my fish poached and chips cooked in veg oil

25th April 2022:

Corra Lynn is the perfect place to unwind - our room was spacious, clean and warm with a very comfortable bed, quality linen and a modern well-equipped en-suite. Michelle & Simon made us feel immediately at home and were on hand for advice and a friendly chat. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful (10/10 for veggie sausages!). While beaches, shops and restaurants are only a 5-10 minute walk away, the location felt peaceful and safe. I will happily recommend the Corra Lynn to others and hope to visit again some time.

Tips:

So much to choose from in terms of places to eat- some of the beer prices were similar to London, but Simon was happy to recommend less touristy pubs. My best find was the the Whitby Brewery right by the Abbey - with an on-site tap house. Their beer selection is huge, staff friendly and they also cook their own pizzas which are delicious - definitely worth a walk up the 199 steps. There is also a Whitby sightseeing bus, which stops right outside the B&B and operates on a 24 hour ticket hop-on, hop-off basis - this will take you up to the Abbey if you're in need of a less strenuous experience!

Couldn't fault cleanliness and hospitality, very welcoming and helpful. We were told the room was small and was expecting that, but on arrival thought for the size of the room it was slightly overpriced, and mis informed of a fridge in the room, I bought drinks to put in it assuming it being a standard hotel kind of fridge size but Couldn't fit anything in it, apart from that, breakfast was good and great to have parking, I would recommend your hotel, but I would advise not to take room 6, it is too small and hard to get ready in, especially if you're a bigger person.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and glad you enjoyed your stay. We always do describe room 6 as a small double, on our website, during any phone contact and in the e mail confirmation that we send out. Plus I would say that the photos on our website give a fair representation of it as well. The fridge isn't large but you can get a bottle of wine into it and a few cans of drink, so apologies that this did not meet your expectation. As to value, it is £10 cheaper than our other rooms and does include breakfast and off street parking. Parking in the town at peak periods is a real premium and a proper breakfast is now becoming less common. When you visit again both our rooms 4 and 5 on the second floor are lovely and large. Plus our room 3 is a king size with en suite of a bath and shower. regards SImon

A warm welcome greeted us on our return to Corra Lynn and the warmth stayed during our stay. Michelle and Simon are great hosts and its then tough to decide between the breakfasts or the location as to whats best next! Breakfasts are delicious, cooked to order & they even accommodated my hubbies desire for a kipper breakfast! Thank you :) The location is brilliant, so well placed for Whitby itself but also positioned so well near to West Cliff for escaping the bustle & enjoying walks & the beacch if you prefer a quieter day.

Tips:

We had fabulous meals at the following places, recently opened Pizza West on West Cliff, Rusty Shears, starters and mains to fill the hungriest of tums & a great setting for drinks too, Trenchers fish & chips never fails to deliver top quality food, and Cosa Nostra for wonderful Italian dining. Corra Lynn is perfectly located for exploring the Cleveland Way to get to Staithes and walk back, or Runswick Bay if you want a shorter wander, or up and out past the Abbey brings you the delights towards Robin Hoods Bay, with a steadier walk back on the cinder track if your feet get tired! Good Afternoon. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. The rooms that face out to the front of the property do experience some road noise, from a personal perspective, we do not find it intrusive. We are a lot quieter than properties, closer in to the town but still within a 5 minute walk and of course, the benefit of the off street parking in the town cannot be overstated. Should you stay with us again, I would recommend the rooms at the rear of the property, these are very quiet in the evening and rooms 1 and 4 on the second floor have partial views on the Abbey. As for placing a second sheet under duvet, we would have happily supplied if requested. Again, thank you for your review and hope you visit us again. Regards Simon

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Apologies regarding the average standard of the grouting/silicone in the shower. We have a week free shortly where I can have that stripped and replaced. At the point of the covid restrictions first coming in, we removed the majority of the toiletry items from the rooms other than antibacterial hand wash. More recently we have changed this to the Bath House hand wash which smells fantastic but they do not supply it as a shower wash so we need to test some of their other options to find one that we like and our guests will like. That will be in for next year - 2022. Glad you enjoyed breakfast, I do enjoy a bit of fried bread myself, but tend not to include it as quite a few people don't love it. Always happy to be meet breakfast needs, so if you're with us again just ask and i will happily include. King Regards Simon

The Blitz in the Old Town is worth a visit (but need to book) delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Macy Brown's Cocktail Bar opposite the Railway station serves fabulous cocktails and various largers & beers (if you can get a table on the outside terrace you can people watch). The Duke of York in the Old Town has fabulous views across the harbour to the Whale Bones, also wide range of drinks, they serve good selection of food and have a designated area for food. There's plenty of places to find your Fish & Chips too many to mention. If you don't fancy the walk back up the hill you can get a taxi from in front of the replica ship Endeavour wich will cost you £5.

Our second visit. Michelle and Simon are very personable, approachable and friendly. Breakfasts can’t be faulted. Rooms are clean, no frills and comfortable. Location is good, with the west cliff only five minutes level walk away. The town centre is in the opposite direction ten minutes down a steep hill. Every room at Corra Lynn has a parking space. Parking is difficult and expensive in Whitby, so this is a huge advantage.

Tips:

For anyone who has problems negotiating hills, just around the corner is a handy bus stop - two minutes into town, Sandsend and Middlesborough in the other direction. The Edge on Bridge Street is a nice restaurant. It serves the basics, but also half a dozen more ambitious dishes, and a decent wine list.

Michelle and Simon are a lovely energetic couple running this B&B. The room was great, nice lighting, handy little fridge and bath towels large and lovely. Only thing we might have liked is different hand wash in the bathroom.

Tips:

Parking on site is a real advantage at Corra Lynn. It means you can leave the car and easily walk to town or harbour. Walking along Upgang just around the corner with its gorgeous 18th century houses and Pannett Park to the right is a delight. Highly recommend the Whitby Deli at the bottom of Upgang for delicious lunch items and gifts to take home.

What a lovely little B&B. Simon and Michelle are the perfect hosts. The bedrooms are exceptionally clean and decorated well. They provide everything you would need. Although we traveled as a couple they as parents of young children cater extremely well for families too. It is situated close to the beach and the centre of Whitby and parking spaces at the property mean you have no worries when you arrive. Simons breakfasts were delicious. Service with a smile by Michelle or Mathew, thank you. Would highly recommend to all.

Tips:

Would highly recommend Rusty Shears for lunch, dinner or just drinks. There is a little bakery, Beech Grove Bakery in Runswick Bay so good. Breads, cakes and savoury items all delicious. Check out opening times before you ahead out.

Only there for two nights but enjoyed enormously. Room was bright, fresh and very clean. Fairly central location so easy to get around (providing you don't mind the hills). Breakfast was plentiful and well prepared.

Tips:

For the fish and chip aficionados there is plenty of choice. We chose the Fishermans Wife. Situated right on the front, we were sat overcooking the sea. The fish was excellent, the chips OK. For our second night we went Italian, the Cosa Nostra. This was excellent. The venue and the food were both superb. We booked in advance and I would recommend this because this restaurant is very popular.

We had an excellent stay at Corra Lynn and would definitely recommend it to other families looking for a friendly, clean, covid safe place to stay. The food was amazing and freshly cooked when we got to the dining room. (Simon's veggie sausages and the delicious coffee get a big thumbs up!). Michelle went out of her way to help us find a suitable pizza venue for dinner on Friday night as our Whitby trip was last minute and we were lucky enough to get a cancellation at the fabulous Cosa Nostra. The B&B itself is perfectly located for the beach and just a short wander to the centre of Whitby. You also have your own parking space which is definitely a bonus and Michelle and Simon were kind enough to let us use it after checkout as the next guests were coming later in the day. All in all I don't think you could get more accommodating hosts or a better place to stay. It's five stars from us!

Tips:

Whitby has something for everyone! We would particularly recommend a trip to the abbey ruins and also downloading the audio guide (done via a QR code) which you can play as you wander around. The narrative is told through the eyes of people who lived there throughout history and really brings it to life. You also have to try crab fishing over the harbour railings (all equipment can be cheaply bought at local town centre shops) but beware, the adults may become more competitive than the children over the size of their catch :-)

Tips:

Excellent location for the centre of Whitby, few minutes walk into the town, Pannett park on the doorstep and beach is ten minutes walk away. For walkers it’s ideally situated to get onto the Cleveland way. Simon And Michelle are very friendly welcoming owners. Our Room was spotless with crisp white Sheets on very comfy beds. The power shower was great with added toiletries if you needed them. Breakfast was delicious and could not be faulted. We will definitely return on our next visit to Whitby.

Tips:

Whitby is full of History and a pleasure to walk around the cobbled streets. A visit up the steps to the Abbey is worthwhile for the view. The Harbour is a busy area with lots of boat trips available. Some nice different and quirky shops are dotted around the town and over the bridge.

29th December 2018:

We made a last minute decision to visit Whitby between Christmas & New Year. We booked the last room available at Corra Lynn. It was an excellent decision. We were warmly greeted by Michelle & Simon, who made us coffee with a slice of Simon’s delicious lemon drizzle cake. Our bedroom & bathroom were well appointed & the large bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was really excellent, I had Simon’s homemade leek & cheese sausage which was delicious. We had a lovely stay & will be back

Tips:

Whitby is quaint & charming, lovely old buildings & interesting alleyways with lots of shops & cafès. We had drinks & oysters in the trendy Marine Hotel. Dinner in the Magpie fish restaurant was a delicious end to our day here

This is a lovely, family run Bed & Breakfast that is perfectly situated for getting around Whitby with the added bonus of parking. The food is excellent and the little touches that make the place special are very welcome.

Tips:

Whitby has an abundance of places to eat and drink and it is probably down to preference and budget. A walk along the beach to Sands End takes you to the Beach Café which serves the best Seafood Special sandwich that you will ever have. They also serve bottles of beer which are a full pint and not over priced which perfectly compliments the sandwich.

Absolutely flawless experience. Got tea and cake on arrival and clear, helpful instructions regarding local amenities. The location is perfect, being in the heart of wondrous Whitby. Allocated parking elimated a possible stressor. The room was immaculate, in line with the rest of the guest house. The dining area is spacious, and the tailored breakfast was cooked to perfection. The owners were attentive without being over-involved. I could not recommend this place more.

Tips:

We parked at the leisure centre opposite because our check in wasn't until 4PM. The owners explained that it wouldn't have been an issue to use our allocated space before check in. Whitby itself pretty much sells itself. It's a cultural gem, with the most amazing atmosphere. Above all, take your time to soak it in.

Tips:

Whitby is a very interesting town, with beautiful harbour, narrow streets and courtyards in the old town below the abbey, enclosed by hills, plenty of history (Abbey and Captain Cook Museum), restaurants and pubs along the harbour side. A mecca for fish and chip shops and restaurants, so difficult to choose from. We tried the Silver Street Fish and Chip shop (takeaway only, but tables outside to sit at). The haddock and batter was excellent -fresh and properly cooked.

Room positions at front of house are noisy when one needs to have windows open. Lovely full English breakfasts. Nice touch having tea and cake offered on arrival.

Tips:

Hotel is only a short walk to the town. It is a great advantage being able to park on the hotel forecourt. If you want to go back in time - visit The Royal Hotel on the cliff top! This would have been a wonderful place to stay in years gone by, but unfortunately, time has taken its toll and it is now in much need of a full revamp and spruce up. The signs of the architectural past and nostalgia are there, nonetheless, worth a visit for a look around and drink in the corner lounge overlooking the prom and piers. Mr Chips Restaurant (fish and chips restaurant) located over the bridge to the right, serves delicious meals. It pays to book, otherwise you have to wait for a table in a queue in the street.

Thank you for your review and glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are very proud of our breakfasts and always pleased for a compliment. In relation to the chairs, they are on our list of things to change but will remain a feature for a short while. Since taking over the Corra Lynn 2 years ago we have completed quite a lot of renovation and refurbishment, and are prioritising our spending, chairs are on it but a little down the line. Hope the rest of your travels go well and maybe see you again is future years. regards SImon

7th April 2016:

An excellent night's stay. We found the whole experience, from booking to departure, to be both professional and welcoming. The room was modern and well appointed and the welcome coffee and flapjack was a real bonus after a wet afternoon in Whitby. The bathroom was also modern and the shower was powerful and clean. Breakfast was suberb and the homemade bread was fabulous, All-round, the best B+B we have ever stayed in. Well done to Simon and Michelle.

Excellent B&B - Simon and Michelle made us feel at home and the family room at the top of the house was perfect for us and our two girls. Car parking is a bonus and it is only a very short walk into town. You really couldn't be better placed for a break in Whitby!

2nd April 2016:

Friendly, efficient enthusiastic, a lovely warm welcome and able to give us advice on the local area.

Tips:

Numerous fish restaurants, we enjoyed Harry's, The Magpie and Robersons over the bridge. You can spend all day exploring Whitby with St Mary's and the Abbey on the hill, the steam train, the open top tourist bus is great and a stroll through the park with its views of the harbour.

31st October 2015:

Super short stay, lovely family with a very friendly and attentive approach. Enjoyed all but the weather and even Simon and Michelle can't control that. Easy walk into town with car parking slot. Feel mean about the 'good' categorizing re location. Would have given very good had the option been available. Nothing too much trouble. Well done.

Tips:

Stroll on the beach to Sandsend and back (tide times permitting), obviously take in the town and the 'steps' to the church (well worth a look around) and abbey. You won't need lunch! We always eat at Mr Chips across the bridge when in the area and took in the steak night special at the Hare & Hounds at High Hawsker (different nights have differnt specials). Recommend you try to book for that, we managed to eat in the bar but the restaurant was booked up at 5.30pm on a weekday autumn evening.

The owners made us feel very welcome, they are very attentive and like to make sure that everything is just so. The food is excellent and plentiful and although our particular room is not the biggest, it was still enough for our needs. Will happily stay at Corra Lynn again.

Tips:

Corra Lynn is on the West Cliff so can be a bit of a trek back from town, a pass for the open top bus is worthwhile. The Four Seasons restaurant on the south side of the river is excellent. Also the North Yorks Moors Railway is well worth a visit if you have young children.

20th October 2015:

We were made very welcome on arrival by Michelle, the cuppa and cake were very much appreciated. The room was spotlessly clean and a good size. Highly recommend the full English breakfasts. Lovely start to our day. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Corra Lynn to anyone looking to stay in Whitby.

Tips:

We would recommend Trenchers for excellent fish and chips. We also had a lovely steak meal in The Four Seasons restaurant.

Very friendly welcome with tea and home made cake. Nothing was too much trouble. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed. Delicious food. Great hosts.

Tips:

Don't climb 199 steps to the Abbey too early in the day - it's not open until 10am. Duke of York pub just in the corner by the Abbey steps serves excellent food and a good range of whiskies.

Had a lovely stay. Clean and quiet room at back of b&b. Breakfast was amazingly fresh, I had the full English breakfast and not greasy with homemade breads. It made you feel like you were at home. We had to be out of the room at 10.00 which was early! I'd definately stay there again. Great stay!
