10th June 2025:
We really enjoyed staying at the Corner Guest House - the room was very comfortable and had a great view and location. The breakfast was amazing - delicious options (hot and cold) and catered to an allergy. The host was very attentive and kind, aside from being an excellent cook. Our only regret was not pre-ordering the kippers for breakfast - we'll do that next time.
Tips:We enjoyed just walking around and seeing the shops and area. Of course, get to the Abbey and check out the jet jewelry. But don't miss the brewery next to the Abbey. We also enjoyed the Lobster Hatchery aquarium. The host recommended some excellent places to eat like the Fisherman's Daughter which were fantastic as well.

31st May 2025:
The whole house is immaculate, the bedroom spacious and very comfortable, with all the necessary facilities. The host is very genial, extremely helpful and accommodating. Will definitely use this B & B again, and will recommend it to our family and friends.
Tips:If you want a delicious fish and chips meal we recommend the Quayside. The 'regular' size was just right, the staff very pleasant, welcoming and accommodating. The views are lovely, especially from the abbey, and St. Mary's Church is definitely worth a visit if only for its very tall pews. (Not seen any like them in any other churched we've visited).

After a slightly fraught 10 minutes finding the place, we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. In many ways a typical B and B we found the rooms to be larger than most and very clean. Breakfast was superb with everything you could think of present and Simon making sure that you had everything just as you like it.
Tips:Only downside for us is the position which like most places in Whitby is situated up a fair incline from the harbour but that has a plus side as it is in a very quiet area.

We arrived earlier than expected by a very lovely friendly, helpful gent called Simon. He showed us to our room and made sure we were completely happy with it. It was a spotlessly clean room with all we needed for a fabulous 2 nights stay. The bed was extremely comfy and the shower was good. Our breakfast was beautiful. All fresh local produce and served at a hot temperature. All I can say is THANK YOU for such a great stay. Don’t hesitate to stay here.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I stayed for 7 nights, Jen and Simon made me feel welcome fom the 1st meeting, the room I had was just right for a single person, plenty of tea, coffee milk etc. Towels provided, there was toiletries but not new. I'm afraid the bed was to hard for me. The blinds and curtains were black out so that was great, no view from my room only the back alley, not a problem when your out all day. Breakfast was lovely, plenty, freshly cooked, tea and coffee, juice supplied. Also a lounge if you just want to chill.
Tips:The guest house is close to most things, 5 minutes from town and harbour, great restaurant called 'fisherman's wife', Take a left from house and you'll find a lovely coffee hut called 'Clara's', plenty of seating for a gorgeous view out to sea. Throughout the town you'll find lots of tea rooms, cafes etc. Yellow bus tour bargain, up to the Abbey, ticket lasts 24hours. Views to die for. Always somewhere to sit, drink and watch everything go bye.

Tips:Superb location, literally everywhere is on your doorstep, from the centre on one side to the whale bones on the other - you are definitely in Whitby. We have been here about 5 times in the last couple of years and never had a problem with parking, we have usually managed to park close to the hotel. A lovely welcome. From arrival to our last day, everything was clearly communicated and worked as described. Key code to enter, car parking pass waiting for us and room keys waiting. We could look after ourselves - refills were freely available and a fridge with cold glasses for our own drinks. Breakfast selection was extensive and excellently prepared. Nice bedding and towels, everywhere was clean and fresh.
Tips:West Cliff is a great location for spending a few days exploring Whitby on foot. Everything is nearby: museums, shops, and a surfeit of restaurants (mainly fish and chips, of course). Cosa Nostra Italian restaurant in town is excellent and don’t miss the great Thai place in the train station, which is absolutely top notch too. The Mademoiselle French bar in the market square is great too. With the always-popular 199 steps up to the Abbey (and the Abbey Brewery) and stunning views across the town from many vantage points, Whitby has it all.

We had a spacious room in a great location. Our hosts were delightful and I enjoyed trying the kippers which were available as one of the special orders for breakfast. Our bed was very comfortable. The shower ran very slowly which meant you had to stay under longer if you needed to wash your hair but it was adequate. Good little spot.

This wasn’t our first stay & definitely won’t be our last. Thank you for another lovely stay.

It was a delightful experience to re-visit the Corner Guest House after over 20 years, where the welcome from Simon and Jenny was genuinely warm and friendly. Our king-sized room was quiet and comfortable, and the breakfasts were the best we've ever had on holiday: everything fresh and locally produced, expertly cooked and served with a smile! We'll certainly be back.

A very warm welcome from Simon at this lovely homely B & B. We had a perfect double room at the top of the house, nice & warm with a super comfy bed, an adjoining spacious ensuite shower room with fluffy towels & toiletries. A well stocked tea tray, very welcome after a day out in the sea air. Plenty of safety measures in place for Covid, but this perfect B & B is spotless anyway. Breakfast exceeded our expectations, lots of choice; fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals and then everything you could want in an English breakfast, locally sourced & cooked to perfection & so tasty! Served with friendly banter & good humour. Nothing is too much trouble for these lovely hosts who made sure we were well looked after. We can't wait to return to this gem of a B&B ideally situated within walking distance of Whitbys' delights.
Tips:The Four Seasons restaurant despite being a busy place is a great place to eat, plenty of choice Turkish & English. Well cooked & presented, lovely service. We walked in, had no booking but they found us a table. The Dolphin Hotel was a good place for a drink, can get busy but nice views onto the river. Lots to see and do in Whitby and often not enough time to do them all in an overnight stay. Take good comfortable walking shoes!

Warm and friendly hosts. Lovely, bright room. Spotlessly clean and very comfy bed. Nice breakfast.
Tips:If you plan to eat on the evening in Whitby you are best to book in advance. In the busy season it can be difficult to just turn up and get a table without a reservation. The B&B has rooms on all three floors. If you have any mobility issues or difficulties with stairs ensure you book a ground floor room.

Tips:Great place and very well situated too get too the centre off whitby and too the pavilion easy walking distance if you walk down the lane instead off taking the steps along beside the whale bones as they are very steep

hi we have stayed here a few years ago, when it was under another owner, 5 years on the trot, so knew the location was good for us. lovely clean hotel, breakfasts were great, hosts were fabulous, they can't do enough for you. We are planning to go back again before the end of this year.
Tips:Lots of bars with outside space now, which is one of the advantages of the Covid legacy. The Whitby tour bus is well worth the money, up to the Abbey and the Brewery. Had a lovley meal in Harrys bar, food is not to badly priced but 9.50 for a cocktail is a but steep

Hosts went above and beyond to help us out and recommend sights.
Tips:Sightswise there's no massive surprises - see the Abbey, relax on the beach, walk along the cliffs - but I did enjoy the Whitby Jet Museum way more than I expected, it's a good way to spend half an hour to an hour. Food wise, Mademoiselles is excellent but a little overpriced, Trenchers is excellent for a sit down fish supper if only for the atmosphere (a very British American diner, very welcoming), the Magpie deserves its high regard and the Duke of York is a great classic pub, all cosy nooks and wood panels.

Wonderful, friendly, welcoming hosts. Any questions answered and a welcome arrival. The Guest House is spotless, and the bed was so comfortable. A hearty, very tasty, breakfast set us up for the day. We will definitely stay again, and try your house too.
Tips:The Resolution Bar is a great place with friends on an evening. They also serve delicious food. A nice walk to Sandsend, with coffee and cake at the cafe furthest into the village, not the first cafe, the owner is very rude. Harry’s bar and Cosa Nostra also serve delicious food. A good old boat trip is a lovely pass time aswell.

The Corner Guest House is ideally located for access to all of the many bars, restaurants and shops of Whitby. Jen and Simon provided a very warm welcome, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our King sized room was spacious, clean, comfortable and pleasantly decorated. Our breakfast was plentiful, well cooked and made with local produce. Yum yum!! All in all we had a great stay and would gladly stay there again.
Tips:We ate at the Star Inn on The Harbour on the Friday night. Service and venue were good, however we thought it was quite pricey for the quality and quantity of food we were served. Saturday we ate at The Granby, a lovely pub with great service and nice atmosphere. The food there was great quality and quantity reasonably priced.

From arrival to leaving absolutely lovely! Simon was warm, extremely attentive & friendly. A much needed and famous Yorkshire welcome! The room was immaculately clean and very comfortable. A great nights sleep and especially lovely pillows. Breakfast was a sheer delight for me "Whitby kippers and brown bread" served with kindness and an abundance of friendliness! We cannot wait to return for a guaranteed wonderful, warming place to stay. A home from home without a doubt!
Tips:What can I say about Whitby? If you've been before then hurry back! If your a newbie then. Read beyond Dracula and you will find a place drowning in history, folklore and a richly preserved Yorkshire culture, that always keeps its strong friendly, genuine identity! The magpie fish restaurant is fantastic and extremely good value for money! Don't forget to indulge in some Yorkshire ale, a pint or 3 of theakstons!

We had a lovely one night stay and really enjoyed it. Simon (the owner) met us on arrival and was very friendly and polite. The rest of the staff were also very polite and helpful, all smiling and happy. We enjoyed a relaxing overnight stay for our anniversary and would definitely like to stay again. Only downside was the decor was slightly outdated.
Tips:Whitby itself has plenty to do and see, from the local shops to the Abbey,to the Dracula experience. Plenty of restaurants and cafes to have a bite to eat. Lovely clean beaches to explore and arcades to play in, along with quirky shops found in the narrow winding streets. Overall we loved our stay and will be going back again.

My review for trip advisor (typed it up today but haven’t submitted it yet) Owners: Simon, Jenny and Ashley (Ashley is new) were very friendly and accommodating. They were able to provide us with a cot, supported us with parking and were on hand to answer questions. I couldn’t fault them. Rating: 5/5 Location: A five minute walk to the beach for most people and about another five minutes into town. Quiet location generally but ideally situated. Rating: 5/5 Room: We stopped in room 4. The room was large and well spaced. The bed was a little low to the ground and the mattress was very soft. There was no lock on the bathroom door which was not an issue for us but might be for some. The room had one large window that could open fully. It had blinds that were very fiddly and curtains so it could black out. The shower in the room is quite small in my opinion. The TV is quite a distance from the bed however, we rarely watch TV. The room had a working kettle. It doesn’t have many electrical sockets however, the wonders brought us an extension lead upon request. The room is basic but then you don’t go on holiday to stay in the room all day! Rating: 3/5 Breakfast: Whilst there is less variety here than in some (ie I didn’t see any pastries such as croissants, muffins or cold meats etc possibly as there is less demand for these items), what they have is very good. They have a full English breakfast with scrambled, poached and fried eggs. Additionally, they have cereals, yoghurts and fruits. There was also a range of drinks. The quality is very good. It is normally a buffet but with covid, they were providing table service. Rating: 4/5 Value for money: This was outstanding value for money. I won’t write how much we paid but can say the price was very good for the time of the year. Rating: 5/5 Additional: parking is an issue however, there is a car park on silver street which is less busy. It was £8.50 a day. I’m guessing that wherever you stop here, this would be an issue. Rating: n/a Overall, a very pleasant stay. The room is basic but the owners, the food and the location more than make up for this. Overall rating: 4.5/5
Tips:Don’t trust your sat nav- it will lead you up one way streets. Look up car parks near to the B&B in case you can’t park on the road.

Tips:So much to see and do in Whitby .. but if you have time,we would definately recommend a trip to Staithes .. a beautiful little village nestled between stunning cliffs. We had a cream tea at Dotty's cafe which was very tasty indeed .. we caught the X4 which runs every 30 minutes and got a return ticket for £7.50 each .. In Whitby,Silver Street Fisheries do scrumpcious fish and chips with a proper mug of tea, with benches under a striped canopy if you want to sit and eat.

Jenny and Simon are fantastic, lovely, friendly, helpful couple and they can't do enough for you. The B & B is spotless and the breakfasts are fabulous, just what you need to set you up for the day. We have been coming to the Corner Guest House for quite a few years now and will keep going back there as long as we can. Excellent location.
Tips:Fisherman's Wife on Khyber pass and Mr Chips on Church Street are the best restaurants in Whitby in our opinion.

Owners are very friendly and polite. Our room was very clean and the bed most comfortable. The buffet style breakfast was exceptional, a wide choice of things all fresh and regularly topped up. Possibly the best breakfast arrangements we have come across. The pre-pay parking voucher is a great idea, although it can be difficult to find a space close by, but no different to any other seaside town. Our second stay here and we would happily recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in Whitby
Tips:Italian restaurant- Casa Costra, over the swing bridge, to T junction turn right, on right. Reasonably priced great food. Owner appears a bit abrupt but the food is excellent. Pub wise, the Little Angel, opposite the end of the rod down the side of the guest house, keeps a good pint and brews a couple of their own beers. Small bear garden at rear, well worth a visit.

Simon and Jen are the most perfect hosts, and we wish we could have stayed longer. Despite their housekeeper falling ill, Simon and Jen turned out an impeccable house, and took time out to welcome us (even though we arrived early)and to make us feel at home. Breakfast was an outstanding array of choices, and even our (normally) grumpy 16-yr old son was coaxed to the table. To the end, Simon and Jen looked after us like family, even minding our few bags after checkout so we could continue to explore Whitby. No worries about where to stay next time!
Tips:The house is located on the west cliff, close to the whale bone arch, the Fisherman's Wife restaurant, as well as the downtown. Definitely fit in lunch at the Rusty Shears. Of course, go to the ruins, but also take in the Whitby museum, and take the evening walking tour with Dr. Crank.

Very comfortable stay with everything we needed. The staff and owners were very attentive to our needs. You will not find a better self service breakfast anywhere with a good variety of food too. Stayed here 3 years now and will definitely come again. I stay regularly in hotels on business and wish they were half as comfortable as the Corner Guest House.

Great stay, great breakfasts, great hosts ... in a word ... GREAT!
Tips:White Horse and Griffin restaurant was excellent - not cheap but wonderful seafood platter. Harbour boat trip at £2.50 is superb value ... a chance to see Whitby from the sea.

We arrived at 10-30am having only travelled up from Scarborough to ask if we could park outside. We were met by a very friendly lady called Jenny who told us our room was ready and we could use it straight away. We later met husband Simon who went out of his way to ensure everything was perfect. A new king size bed was in the room (12) and was the most comfortable bed i have ever slept in. We could see the Abbey from our bay window while sitting on the leather settee. Breakfast was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for Simon, who we could have a laugh and a joke with. We will be sure to return next summer. Thank you so much Ann and John
Tips:Visit Trenchers for the best fish and chips in Whitby. Also the "Humble Pie Shop" for pie and mash like it used to be. The Royal Hotel allows non-guests in for a drink and live entertainment, and its only a flat 100 yard walk from The Corner Guest House.

I had a really great time staying with you and thanks so much for looking after me so well. It was greatly appreciated. I have put 4 for facilities because the wifi in my room was patchy - it worked sometimes although you said it would not ! - and the shower occasionally a little unpredictable. Neither of these things mattered to me at all but they may matter to some folks and personally I like being at the top of the house away from house and street noise so it all worked for me no problem. I would like to wish you both every success and would thoroughly recommend you to others. Well done see you next year and enjoy your winter in the sunshine! JanHT

Tips:Kam Thai is the place to eat but you must book to avoid disappointment. If you are visiting through August then you have to see the Dracula performance up at Whitby Abbey (Saturday and Sunday only x3 performances each day) very funny and very well put together by just three actors who play various characters

Unfortunately due to a mix up with the old owners and the new owners Simon and Jenny we did not get the room we had booked, however the room we were given was spacious and clean and we were very happy with it. The food was delicious and locally produced. Simon and Jenny could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. I would highly recommend this Guest House to everyone. Alison & Neil
