Tips:Sara at Mr Chips restaurant - a licenced restaurant serving - alongside delicious, locally caught fish and chiips, mussels and a variety of other dishes.

Very much enjoyed our weekend at The Middleham, Sheila is an excellent host and Mick cooks a great breakfast. The location is perfect for getting around and is helped with having parking which is rare in Whitby. Looking forward to our next stay. Highly recommend.
Tips:Had a lovely meal at The Magpie, would definitely recommend booking. We also ate at The Star Inn The Harbour which was equally as good, again would recommend booking. Try using the open top bus to get around and see Whitby, several stops along the route, ticket is valid for 24 hours.

Received a lovely warm welcome from Sheila when we arrived, purchased a parking permit from the guest house and drove round corner to the carpark totally hassle free. Our room was very spacious and spotless clean with a big comfy bed with good quality linen. We had amazing sea view,a great en suite with fluffy white towels, toiletries and cottonwool products to remove makeup ect. There's a good selection on the tea/coffee tray with the bonus of fresh milk thats kept in fridge on landing. The guesthouse offers a great selection on the breakfast menu fresh fruit salad, cereals and a fantastic English breakfast using quality meat products. I would recommend this guesthouse and will be returning. Thanks for a great stay Paula & Ashley xx

We loved staying at The Middleham. Sheila and Mick are very welcoming. The hotel is very clean and the breakfast was great! Some nice added touches two bottles of water, mints at reception, fresh milk in little bottles in a fridge on the 2nd floor and biscuits. Comfy mattress and pillows and pristine bedding and towels. Just great! x
Tips:Go to Robin Hood's bay it is beautiful. You can take your own fish and chips in to the Endeavour Pub whilst you are having a drink. Good food and service at Indian Moments next door to the Endeavour. Go up to the Abbey and visit the brewery!

MICK AND SHEILA ARE FABULOUS FRIENDLY HOSTS,WE HAD THE LARGE ENSUITE BEDROOM ON THE TOP FLOOR WITH BRILLIANT VIEWS...SPOTLESSLY CLEAN...DOUBLE RECLINING SETTEE...EVEN BINOCULARS TO SEE OUT TO SEA. THE BREAKFASTS WERE REALLY EXCELLENT WITH A GREAT CHOICE AND COOKED TO PERFECTION. GREAT LOCATION AND A CAR PARK PASS TOO. HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE.
Tips:Trenchers restaurant for good fish and chips, The Magpie for amazing seafood. Beware of Pizza West as incredibly noisy and the toilets were dirty! So many good pubs and new bars to choose from. Try the brewery next to the Abbey. The walk to Sandsend on the beach is great and a good cafe on the beach. Try the NYMR if you like steam engines.

The Middleham is a lovely B & B, Mick and Shiela were absolutely brilliant hosts, always very attentive, informative and accommodating, Nothing was too much trouble for them. They had little touches in room like binoculars, and in the bathroom there was a box with cotton wool/cotton buds/ sewing kit and even facecloth for make up remover. They made our couple of nights such a pleasurable stay. Relaxed and refreshing.
Tips:We picked this B & B because it allows check in at 14.00 pm whilst most places it’s usual 3.00pm onwards. We checked in and had plenty of time to venture out and check out Whitby, there’s quaint Pubs, The Ship Inn and Duke of York, were lovely, any Gin lovers the “Whitby Bramble and Bay Edition” is absolutely delicious.

Warm welcome from Mick and Sheila, a real down to earth couple, for whom nothing is too much bother. Well presented guest house, spotlessly clean with everything you would need for a short stay. We had room 1 with sea views. Good size room, comfortable and even had complimentary pair of binoculars on the window sill. A nice touch was fresh milk daily for each room left in the communal fridge on the second floor. Breakfast was just spot on, delicious and served piping hot. The West Cliff area has dozens of guest houses and very limited on street parking but that’s not a problem here as the public car park is right behind The Middleham and a parking permit can be obtained from the hosts for a small fee. We just parked up and left the car until we were leaving. Location is pretty good too. Just a few minutes walk to the whale bone arch and Cooks monument with views over the harbour entrance and beach. In fact it is only about 10 minutes walk to all the bars, restaurants, shops etc.

Our first ever visit to Whitby loved it and we would definitely return to The Middleham. Great that you purchase a parking permit and the car park was just behind
Tips:Whitby Abbey is worth a visit and then we stopped off at the local brewery. Takeaway Fish/Chips from Magpies sat overlooking the beach but they all looked great (had a seagull watching me) We had dinner at The Starr Inn which was very nice. A lovely place to just mooch around and we had perfect weather for it too

Exceptional find. Perfect location on West Cliff. The room was spotless and had everything you need and the bed was so comfy that it was a struggle to get out of it. Very highly recommended if you can manage to book in as will be the first place people will book.

My friend and I arrived at the Middleham for the 60's weekend. On arrival we received a warm welcome from Sheila and Mick.Mick Kindly carried our cases up to our room, and also gave us tips on a few places to go in Whitby and routes to take. Our room was up in the attic. We were thrilled with our room,it was immaculate, and beautifully furnished, very welcoming! The view was an amazing sea view. Breakfast was served in the dining room down in the basement, again this was immaculate, welcoming and beautifully furnished. Sheila served the breakfast while Mick did the cooking. There was a good choice of cereals fruit and yogurt We then had poached eggs on toast which were done to perfection, but there was a menu to choose from. We had tickets for the Pavillion and this was a 2 min walk from our B&B and about 10 mins to the harbour. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Middleham and would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast. A big thank you to Mick and Sheila for their Hospitality.
Tips:Definitely a walk along to the harbour and beautiful cobbled streets and shops.

Excellent all round. The only thing I will mention is that the toilet door should not have see thru panels.

This guest house is spotlessly clean and is very well furnished and very comfortable.A lot of thought has been put into looking after the guests down to supplying wine glasses and beer glasses and a fridge where you can keep fresh milk and your wine and beer should you wish to do so.Good choice at breakfast which was well presented and very tasty. The decor throughout was clean and fresh and everything has been kept in good condition by the owners who obviously take great pride in their establishment
Tips:It is a short walk from the guest house down to the harbour area where there are a loads of restaurants catering to all tastes from take out fast food to more restaurants than you could visit. As would be expected all the fish meals that we tried were excellent.Look out for the two for one deals on the cocktails and also some of the half price meals on certain nights.Something for everyone here from the arcades to the boat rides which are very cheap to the large variety of shops

My husband and I have just spent a delightful couple of nights in The Middleham. The premise is lovely and clean and nothing was too much trouble for the owners Mick and Sheila. They were most accommodating when we had to check in later due to unforeseen circumstances. Breakfast was fab, my husband loved the full English. We stayed in room 8 which had a lovely sea view. You need to be okay with stairs for this room but it was well worth the effort. We loved our stay and will definitely return. Thank you MIick and Sheila.
Tips:The Abbey, even lovelier at sun set and a lovely long walk along the beach with an ice cream

Clean, comfy room. Friendly, helpful staff. A wonderful breakfast. Can't wait to visit again.
Tips:The Plough at Sleights does a superb rump or gammon steak at a very reasonable price. A visit to the pie & mash shop on the East side of the river is a must.

Warm, friendly welcome from owners. Large comfortable room at the top of the B+B with a great view. Excellent breakfast.
Tips:Head for the east side of the river for the best pubs (Endeavour + Black Horse in particular). Also Cosa Nostra Italian Restaurant on the same side of the river. Pannet Park on edge of centre worth visiting for a peaceful break from the hurley burley of the town.

Mick and Sheila are very accommodating. They were able to help us when we returned from some Cliff Walks with very muddy boots and the breakfasts really hit the spot. Friendly, professional and happy to chat or recommend things to do in the town.
Tips:If you want a budget meal for the size you get in return, I recommend 'A Passage To India' by the Train Station. The Magpie Cafe serves some of the best Fish and Chips in the UK. If you want walks, the cliff walk to Robin Hood Bay and return to Whitby via the Cinder Track is fairly easy and comes with some stunning views. The walk to Staithes in the opposite direction is a little harder, but worth it too.

hosts very welcoming. Great cooked breakfast included. Room nicely furnished, spotless and comfy bed.
Tips:This B & B is situated on West Cliff so you have some steps/pathway to get down onto the front. Trenchers fish & chip shop is great, but a little pricey! We did the Cleveland Way to Robin Hoods Bay, it's not an easy walk, a lot of up and down, even steps in places.

Very welcoming owners. Rooms of a good standard. Close to parking, which is free out of main seasons. Comfortable beds. Good location to explore the area. Plenty of good stuff for breakfast.
Tips:Whitby has lots to offer travellers. Great pubs, walks, history all year round. Try The Duke of York pub and Fisherman's Wife for great food. The Pier pub have bands and a great atmosphere on Friday and Saturday nights.
