We have had the pleasure of staying at Hillcrest house before. Fantastic location, literally 5 minutes to the sea front. Laura and Greig honestly couldn't make you more welcome, if there was anything at all that we needed they would ensure you got it.we will 100% stay there again. Must point out that breakfast is served in a hamper outside your room, fantastic.

11th May 2025:
It is our third stay at Hillcrest, the second with present friendly and helpful owners Greig and Laura, and we have found the standard of accommodation and service to be very good. In addition, the Hillcrest has a large car park for residents, you don't have to park on the road or pay for car parking. For us it is an ideal location, away from the hustle and bustle of Whitby centre but not too far to walk. Bus bus stops are very close by which means you can catch a bus into Town down the hill or further afield, Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough and so on.
Tips:Although the walk into Whitby is not too far (10 minutes) you will have to deal with a reasonably steep hill. If mobility is an issue for you, take the bus, they run at least every 30 mins, to the centre. No separate dining room, but we liked the fact that the Breakfast was supplied to the room, you can take your time, and the Breakfast options available

This is our third stays with Hillcrest and it was delightful again! The rooms are always clean and spacious (we have stayed in standard and deluxe). They have good size en-suite, flat screen tv and coffee machines and very comfy beds, but by far the best thing is the breakfast which gets delivered to your room in a little crate, you get to choose from a wide selection and it tastes amazing! We throughly enjoyed our stay and will book again!

If any information was needed, the text we received as we approached Whitby that our room was ready, we knew it would be above satisfaction. The room was very clean, spacious, comfy and very welcoming. Breakfast was brought to your door after your selection from hot food, cereal, toast, croissants and juices. Very intimate and delicious. There was ample car parking space. All about Hillcrest was excellent and the hosts made us most welcome. Nine out of ten. Try Hillcrest - you will not be disappointed.

Good welcome by Laura. Parking for all quests attached to the B&B. Breakfast delivered to the room included cooked hot bacon, egg and sausages on a roll, plus serial, pastry, toast, juice, etc. Decent size tv in the room. Tea and coffee machine in room. Great good size shower/bathroom. Big comfortable double bed. Very friendly hosts Laura and Greg. Table and two chairs in the room. Ten minute walk down the hill into the centre of Whitby.
Tips:Top quality accomodation. Good selection of shops in Whitby especially over the bridge. Although not a tremendous amount to see we found the hop on hop off bus quite good with excellent commentary and only 8 pound for pensioners. Wear good walking footwear bearing in mind there are cobbled streets and you will be travelling back up the hill (plenty of taxis around if you have had a full day). Trenchers and Magpie Cafe were both excellent. Be prepared for a short wait in a queue for an available table.

A warm welcome and a lovely large room. A very comfortable bed and lots of hot water for a shower. We especially appreciated the breakfast in a box. It was a new experience. We found it very relaxing to eat in our room and the menu choices were varied and ample. Thank you very much. We enjoyed our stay and would hope to return.
Tips:Hillcrest is in an excellent location. There is a regular bus service nearby, with regular trips to Scarborough. Well worth the scenic journey for £2. Everything in Whitby is easily accessible on foot.

Wonderful stay at Hillcrest!! Great location for the town (moderate hill to climb back from town, but taxi is only £5 if you're not up to it). Host Laura was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for her. Went out of her way to ensure we had our allergy free breakfast every morning! Would not hesitate to stay here again

Beautiful and clean room tastefully furnished with a comfortable bed and good quality bedding and towels. Hostess tray well stocked. Breakfast basket with an excellent selection, well presented and more than you can eat! Welcoming host who discovered it was our anniversary and thoughtfully left a bottle of proseco in our room. Would definitely stay here again and will recommend to family and friends.
Tips:Maximum 10 minute walk downhill to the sea and town depending on your pace. Good area to walk around, bring your walking boots. Check the tide times snd walk to Sandsend or Runswick Bay depending on how energetic you feel! You dont have to go to the Magpie for good fish and chips, we found an excellent chippy!

Spacious room and en-suite. Free parking. Easy access to town centre and buses. I’ve left the best bits til last. The hosts were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was brought to the room and was very generous with plenty of choices for all tastes and if it wasn’t on the list you only had to ask. Enjoyable and very comfortable stay. Highly recommended
Tips:Whitby has a lot of places to eat but booking in high season is recommended. Buses stop a few yards down from Hillcrest and are fairly frequent to Robin Hoods bay and Scarborough. A ten minute walk will bring you to either Town centre or the cliff walks and beach. Pannett Park is pretty. From the town centre cross the river and the abbey is a long climb up steps, but the view is worth the effort.

Classical styled rooms, totally in keeping with the age of the building. Extremely comfortable room. The only mistake we made was ordered too much breakfast on the first stay….full to exploding point! This is a lovely place to stay , and the breakfast delivered to your door is plentiful with an excellent choice. Throughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay very much. We received an unsolicited upgraded room and when I explained the trip was to celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary so this made it extra special, she returned with an ice bucket, bottle of prosecco and 2x glasses. Laura and her staff really went above and beyond and far exceeded that extra mile!. The room was spotless, and the unexpected Lavassa coffee maker with fresh milk and any amount of pods took luxury to a whole new level. The breakfast box was also a brilliant idea. You complete your request the night before and put in the tray at the entrance. What an experience! Hot sandwich choice eg bacon, sausage, bacon and egg, with vegetarian options, all in local fresh buns and locally sourced products. Cereals, croissants, pastries, toast, spreads, fresh juice the choice was amazing. I thoroughly recommend the home made overnight oats, delicious and filling. We will definitely be returning and I heartily recommend Hillcrest to everybody you will not be disappointed. It really was a home from home. Laura and her staff cannot be praised highly enough for their hard work.
Tips:Leave room for your breakfast, it's belly busting. There is off street free parking too!

Hillcrest is in a superb location just ten minutes walk down a steep hill into Whitby town. Our room was very spacious, clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Laura and Greig are a lovely couple and we would not hesitate to return and recommend.

This was a return visit for us. We loved it last time and still do. We feel really at home and comfortable at Hillcrest. As the heading says on the TripAdvisor review that we did straight away when we got home; " We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Whitby". The breakfast boxes is a brilliant, innovative idea. It's great to sit at a breakfast table by the window (still in our dressing gowns) and enjoy breakfast in our room. The location is perfect. Just far enough out of the town centre to be away from the wall to wall crowds that Whitby inevitably attracts and a bus stop right outside to get to other towns if you want to. (We of a certain age are armed with bus passes anyway, so it is particularly convenient). We always arrive in Whitby on the A171 so Hillcrest is so easy to get to and your car parking means we can park up and leave the car until we check out. Yes, there is bit of a hill to negotiate when we walk back up from town but hey, I am 74 and Linda is 78 and we don't find it a problem at all, in fact it gets easier with practice. The fact is, any direction out of the town centre involves an incline upwards (not counting travel by boat of course).
Tips:Some of the eating establishments are very popular indeed and during the day it can sometimes be a struggle to find a table free. However, the mad crowds seem to disappear in the evenings as if by magic and it can seem as if you have the town to yourself. There is a nice little place in Sanders Yard, opposite the market place on Church Street and we were able to book a table for six there in the afternoon.

Greig and Laura were available if you needed them, but I never felt smothered. Greig even guided me out of my parking space when I checked out. A nice couple, you could ask them anything, very knowledgeable about the surrounding area.
Tips:Town is a short walk and the bus and train stations are at the bottom of the hill. A nice quiet place if you want peace, more excitement a 5 or 10 minute walk. I found it easily and left the car there while I explored by bus and on foot. The B&B is off the main roads into town, so avoiding any congestion.

Beautifully decorated rooms, lots of optional extras provided and Greig and Laura were easily available if you needed anything else and they did their utmost to accommodate. Not that we did because they’ve got it so right. Breakfast ( vegetarian and vegan) delivered to your room was brilliant- you could chill and eat in pyjamas if you wanted to, in the privacy of your own room. No racing to get dressed and down to a dining room. Our ensuite had a roomy shower and oodles of hot water; the shower head was height adjustable so no getting hair soaked unless you wanted to. Refreshments in room included pod coffee as well as hot chocolate and fruit teas. Fresh milk available from communal fridge as well as UHT milk in room. Garden benches for guests. ON SITE PARKING.
Tips:Within walking distance from the town which had bus station and train station. X93/94 bus stops about 50 yards from property, going to Robin Hood’s Bay and Scarborough one way, into town and on to Middlesbrough the other. Other day visit destinations possible on train making Whitby a base. Good selection of eateries in town.

Tips:Bit of a hill to get into town, so wear sensible shoes if walking it. Had a cracking meal in the Cosa Nostra Italian restaurant, and no visit to Whitby would be complete unless you had a proper fish and chips meal. Loads to choose from, we chose Trenchers

Very helpful even before we arrived with good communication on parking and entry system. Assured us that they were there to help at the end of the phone or in person. Breakfast hampers were great and hot and good quality. We had the smallest room available but it was perfectly adequate for the two of us for a couple of nights. Warm and comfortable bed.
Tips:On a nice day take a walk up past the abbey and visit the whitby brewery. Very limited indoor space in poor weather though. Best pub service was in the middle earth pub which still do table service but staff were prompt and helpful with their service. Struggling to find a Sunday lunch so was advised to travel to neighbouring villages for that.

Craig & Laura werxe extremely helpful. They were very accommodating. The room was spacious and had everything we needed, it had a great en-suite with powerful shower. Very clean and the breakfast baskets were amazing we’ve never had breakfast service in our room before so this did seem a little strange but it was a very relaxing way to start the day. The breakfasts themselves were exceptional quality and a good varied selection. There is adequate parking for residents so this was a great bonus as Whitby is then within steady walking distance. We would be happy to stay anytime and hope to do so very soon Thank you for making our first trip to Whitby so memorable
Tips:😊St Mary’s church, next to the Abbey, is worth visiting. The Witching Post country Inn in Egton serves great homemade food. Robin Hoods Bay is a must! Be prepared for an extremely steep climb back up from the beach and quaint shops at the harbour. 😕 Passage of India restaurant wasn’t great

Also handy the fact to have the breakfast brought to our room. Greig and Laura were very helpful with anything we needed. We definitely would recommend and will go back.
Tips:We recommend one of the longer boat tour (45min-1h) as you get to go properly out at sea instead of going just around the harbor. Fish and chips is a must from one of the hundreds restaurants. The Moon and Sixpence on the waterfront does lovely cocktails.

Lovely clean guesthouse in a good location with parking. The room was huge and tastefully decorated. The shower was powerful with nice toiletries and the the tea tray was well equipped with biscuits, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and coffee pods. A delicious breakfast was served in the bedroom all with good quality ingredients. Just be prepared for the hill on the walk home from Whitby.
Tips:Magpie cafe is a lovely place to eat. The weather wasn’t great when we were there so we went to Eden camp which was great for anyone who wants to learn more about WW2.

We enjoyed our stay at Hillcrest, and would be happy to return. It would have been nice to have been greeted in person, but we fully understand that people do have commitments. The breakfast was delivered to our room at exactly 8am, and the food was lovely and fresh with lots of bacon on the sandwich.
Tips:I nice quiet area around Hillcrest, with a very pleasant walk into the town. We recommend Hadley's fish and chip restaurant near the swing bridge. Don't bother with the Indian Moments restaurant next to the Endeavour pub, it is quite bland and has no atmosphere.

The Hillcrest offers excellent accommodation with a high level of specification and is excellently located within a ten minute walk from the town centre. Graig and Laura are excellent hosts and very accommodating. Breakfast is of a high standard, delivered to your bedroom each morning and with a great selection to choose from. If you like Whitby and comfort then you'll love the Hillcrest.
Tips:Whitby is an ideal place to see if you're a keen walker, people watcher, or just like to amble around in a pleasant harbour resort. The Hillcrest is ideally located, just approximately 5-10 minute walk from the town centre, depending on level of fitness and walking speed. It is also closely located to the Cinder path, for more adventurous walkers who are looking to walk a little further afield. I visited the Magpie Cafe (a traditional fish and chip shop cafe - the description of cafe is a little misleading as it is a pleasant dining experience). Also if you're in Whitby you have to visit the old abbey, either by catching the tour bus (which you can get on and off as often as you like for the day all for £8 for an adult), or by walking up the 199 steps.

Quiet, friendly hotel, very clean and comfortable room, continental breakfast was served in your room, with a good choice of different options available, (including bacon & egg sandwiches), only about 10 minutes walk from Whitby Centre (turn right on leaving the hotel and walk down the hill). Tea and coffee facilities in room, including mini filter coffee machine.
Tips:We went on the ghost walk, the speaker was very informative. We also visited Captain Cook’s House, and, of course, the abbey. We also sat and had a drink on the Endurance. The Dracula Experience was a tongue in cheek telling of the Dracula story and film.

Although we stayed only one night we had a lovely stay the room we stayed in was a superior, very comfy bed and a spacious room, which was spotless ,the tea tray was excellent with good quality tea/coffee also a coffee machine which was an added bonus, the breakfast was served to your room which was also excellent with good quality produce and plenty, the hosts were extremely helpful and gave us tips on where to go on our last day, would definitely recommend to stay its only 10 mins to the town centre down the hill which may be a problem if your not good on your legs ,plenty of taxis if needed ,it was fine for us, parking space at the b&b which was a plus .
Tips:We hopped on the tour bus which is worth the £8 it’s a hop on hop off bus you get all the history which you may miss well worth it don’t leave it too late to eat though quite alot of places close for food at 8.30

We were greeted by Greg and shown to our room which was lovely with a good size en-suite and a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was certainly different to most places and was extremely unique. We completed a form for both mornings with what we wanted from hot or cold breakfast rolls, cereal, pastries, and fruit juice. This was delivered to our door in the morning at the time requested in a wooden box with the hot food in a heat bag, milk and juice in little bottles and cereal in jars with dishes cutlery and napkins. Each room has a table and chairs and so we were able to sit and have our breakfast in comfort. This is such a great idea. With parking on site this was great. We will most definitely be back. Thank you Greg and Laura for a perfect stay.

We had a fabulous 4 day break in Whitby staying at the Hillcrest on a b&b basis. Hillcrest is a well furnished 19th century property. Laura and Greig were excellent hosts and couldn't do enough to ensure that you had an enjoyable stay. We stayed at the time of extraordinary high temperatures and fans were provided to all 8 bedrooms. Breakfast of your choice (form completed previous evening) was delivered in a hamper to your bedroom at the time of your choice. We have stayed at Hillcrest several times in the past but the new owners have improved the place tremendously. It looks fresh and cared for inside and out. Our room was immaculate and had everything you could wish for, including a coffee machine and biscuits! The shower was great and toiletries were provided. The huge bonus was the breakfast. Choosing the night before both what and when you wanted it, it was delivered to your door to have at leisure in your room. Although started as an interim measure, I think this should continue as it cuts down on waste and is more than adequate with a wide choice, the overnight oats were to die for! We stayed for four nights and hope to return later in the year. Thank you Laura and Greig for your hospitality.
Tips:Thursday night at the station cafe to see some amazing motorbikes. Station Inn for good choice of beer. Harry’s Bar for nice food and ambience. Walk to Sandsend along the beach or promenade. Boat trips. Steam railway to Pickering where there is a great museum and interesting church. St Mary’s church and the Abbey of course.

Thanks Greig & Laura for a lovely relaxing stay. Susan
Tips:Plenty to do in Whitby and other beaches to visit along the coast, a visit to the abbey is a must with fantastic views, plenty of coastal walks or just a relaxing sit down over looking the sea and abbey. 29th June 2022:
There were some very good things about Hillcrest: friendly hosts, great location, all areas very clean, free parking, excellent breakfast, comfy bed. However also some not so good: our room was smaller than expected, with a small window which made it quite stuffy, there as a free standing fan but nowhere sensible to plug it in, we did not realise that the room would not be cleaned daily, we didn’t mind doing it ourselves but there were no cleaning materials, the table and chais (garden furniture) was really unsuitable, chairs were uncomfortable and table with slats meant things kept falling through. We felt it was rather expensive for what we got
Tips:Really good location, on bus route to Robin Hood Bay, Scarborough etc. quite steep walk into town so not so good if you have mobility issues. Lots of good restaurants, things to see. We liked the open top bus which gave a good commentary and took us up to the abbey rather than walk the 199 steps! Avoid the weekend if you can, we arrived on a Saturday and the town was heaving!

Owner Response:I want to thank you for some of the points you have raised and we have taken them onboard. Its worth pointing out that you booked on booking.com and therefore the room is £20 a night more expensive as we charge a premium with them to cover the commission they charge us. Your room direct would have been 310 for three nights as opposed to the 370 you paid. Its also worth pointing out that both prices include breakfast and guaranteed private parking. It's always better to book direct with small independent businesses as most of us do this. Although you say the room is small it has a full King sized bed and the bathroom has a walk in shower and Bath as well, which for a standard room is pretty good i feel. We did service your room everyday, ie topping up tea coffee etc, emptying bins, hoovered etc. We have discussed with the cleaners and we are going to make sure they straighten beds, but we don't normally completely clean bathrooms everyday, unless they really need it. We thought that it was a good point about having a couple of cleaning things in the room though so are going to put little baskets in with a cloth, toilet duck and Anti-Bac spray so that people have the option of doing a little if they want it. It's worth pointing out that we will in fact do anything a guest wants with regard to cleaning and tidying we just need to be asked and we will get it sorted. We are going to try and find a better Table and chairs although its never been a problem before, i agree with you that there might be something better out there so we are going to look and see what we can get hold of that might be an improvement. Thanks for the feedback, hopefully we can make some improvements.

Tips:We had classic Whitby fish and chips at the Magpie, in the restaurant, they were very good you could tell the fish was fresh, the downside, we had to queue in the street for half an hour. We could have gone straight in had we booked! We also had a meal at the Italian restaurant Cosa Nostra and again had to take an early booking because they were so busy. The room was lovely and spacious, and bed and bedding very comfortable but we felt that some of the furniture was to big , eg the high set of drawers with the coffee and tea facilities was awkward to reach ,I would suggest moving that to where the Tv table was and putting the Tv on top and the lower table for the tea and coffee , and then you would not have to move the bedside table to open the wardrobe. The breakfast was very good and we were told beforehand it was served in the room but we would have preferred to eat at a higher table not a coffee table , very awkward and uncomfortable to eat that way . On the whole we enjoyed our stay but it was strange not meeting our hosts or any other guests , and all felt a bit impersonal.
Tips:The guest hose is in a great location to walk into town so we didn’t have to move our car . We ate at Harry’s bar and brasserie , very good , and the white Horse and Griffen also ok . Lots of shops and restaurants to look around .

Everything was fine the location and the rooms was very clean the only quibble and this is no fault of the owners the room we had was underneath what sounded like a family room and was a little noisy with the sound of footsteps and conversation. But overall the place is nicely located, car parking was easy, breakfast was good and well organized with service to the room.

Very welcoming and friendly. The only reason we marked you down on service was the breakfast order was wrong on both days. Excellent stay. Will definitely be returning. Breakfast very nice, rooms spacious and comfortable. Had the best 3 nights sleep in a long time very comfy bed. Nice Location only 5-10 min walk to harbour and main shops/attractions. Incline on way back from centre this is to be expected as Whitby is hilly so it didn't ruin our trip but something to be aware of.
Tips:Abbey is worth a visit, lovely brewery at the top particularly nice if it's sunny and warm. During busy periods definitely need to pre book resteraunts for evening meals to avoid disappointment. Robin hoods bay 15 min drive is nice for a trip to, not quite a full day trip but quaint and enjoyable morning, very steep inclines and steps therfore difficult to access for wheelchair users or individuals with poor mobility.

The guest house was very clean and the breakfast had a lot of options, including vegetarian and vegan. It was a 15 minute walk from the centre of Whitby and local buses, as well as the hop on hop off tour bus passed by.
Tips:Although Whitby is only small, there is plenty to do. We went on a short boat tour and walked up to the abbey where we saw a play about Dracula that was being performed during the summer. We even saw a seal in the harbour at high tide. Whitby is really hilly and the hills are steep so I would recommend to anyone who has difficulty with mobility to either take the tour bus or drive down into the centre and up to the abbey. If you want a day elsewhere then Robin Hoods Bay is a pretty place to visit although as it’s been a while since I was there, I’m not sure how accessible it is by car. There’s a very steep hill down to the harbour.

The Hillcrest is a beautiful property superbly located within 10 /15 min walk to the centre of town, with free parking directly alongside. We thought that breakfast delivered to our room was an excellent idea, and the amount provided often doubled up for our lunch. We were made very welcome and would definitely recommend a stay, we'll done Hillcrest.
Tips:I would recommend a walk along the Cinder Path that cab be accessed from only 5mins away. Trenchers Restaurant is great for food and the service is excellent, well worth the wait. The cleaveland way is a great walk and the NYMR train go pickering is good. I would also recommend the great ales and atmosphere in the Black Bull pub.

Hillcrest is in a great location, 5 minutes walk to the harbour. We stayed in the Whitby room, it was very clean, spacious and had a great welcome tray. We took our dog and she was well looked after, a bed, towel and treat was provided for her. Breakfast was amazing, choice of food, I recommend the overnight oats, I even asked for the recipe. Couldn't recommend Hillcrest enough.
Tips:Make sure you book any restaurants well in advance

Really nice two night stay. Breakfast was served to room, quality and choice was excellent. Spacious ensuite rooms, with comfortable four poster bed. Hotel is on a busy road but good double glazing meant we had really good night's sleep. One of our party is lactose intolerant and the hotel catered really well to their needs. Needed an iron on first night so called down to owners who brought an iron and board within minutes of asking. Plenty of off street parking. Hotel is near the top of a large hill, so may not be suitable for anyone who finds hills a struggle, otherwise it's less than 10 minute stroll to the centre. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Tips:In high season BOOK meals to avoid dissapoint as the restaurants get very busy.

This was such a wonderful stay, the room and b&b were so clean and lovely. The breakfast was just perfect. Could not recommend it enough! With two children, one 5 years old and the other 1 years old, it was perfect for our family. Thanks to this stay we cannot wait to come back to Whitby in the near future!
Tips:If its your first time in Whitby, make sure you see the Whitby Abbey, the views and history are just remarkable. You don't need to worry about food, fish and chips for every meal are totally reasonable and you would not want anything else anyway. Enjoy!

Fabulous location, near enough to town to walk into and far enough away in case pubs get rowdy 😊👍 car parking, safe and secure and off road and no seagulls around to bless the paintwork. Lovely friendly owners, did an excellent job making you feel welcome and safe, fabulous choice for breakfast and delivered to your door as per your pre-ordered time slot. Would definitely stay here again.
Tips:The Quayside is my favourite for fish and chips, The Granby is a lovely pub just off the main roads. Try the Cleveland Walk vis the coastal route or for a flatter route try the Cinder Track to Robin Hoods Bay, its a lovely quaint little place full of smuggling history. In Whitby there are two Ghost Walks both are great in their own way, the steps up to the church and abbey, well worth a visit and of course all the lovely little shops, you can’t go wrong.

Lovely clean and spacious room, very comfortable for two adults and a small dog. Great breakfast, plenty of variety, delivered to your room in a small crate. Really useful to have a parking space on site. Near enough to Whitby and on bus routes for convenience.
Tips:Lots to see and do in Whitby. Great fish and chips at Hadley's restaurant and enjoyed a few drinks at the Whitby brewery by the Abbey. Hillcrest is on the bus route to Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough, worth a visit and even better not having to find a parking space.

Well maintained, clean hotel with helpful, friendly staff. Our room was lovely and the ensuite bathroom had a separate shower and a bath. Breakfast was delivered to our room each morning at a time selected by us and was of a good quality and the bacon rolls were delicious. We had a bistro table and chairs in our room so we could eat our food in comfort. This hotel is with in walking distance of Whitby harbour and beach, although it’s situated at a top of a hill so walking back to the hotel was a bit of a climb but totally manageable if you are used to walking. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
Tips:Whitby is a pretty harbour town with lots of places to eat along with delicious fish and chip takeaways. Our only tip is to book tables at restaurants as limited availability for walk ins. We visited the Abbey which is both interesting and beautiful. The beach is sandy and child friendly. We recommend trips to some of the quaint harbour towns near by. Staithes, Sandsend and Robin Hood bay are very beautiful, but our absolute favourite was Runswick Bay- it’s absolutely stunning and well worth a visit.

We had a fantastic relaxing stay in this beautiful guesthouse. The room was spacious, spotless and so beautifully decorated. The bed was spacious and so comfortable. The breakfast was delivered at 3 different times to suit the guests. In baskets which was a brilliant idea full of tasty treats and lots of delicious choices. The guesthouse is situated in a 5 minute walk into Whitby, the only down side was waking home at night through a tree lined path that made me feel uncomfortable. However the next night we got a taxi back for less than £5 which resolved this problem.

Breakfast was great. The bed was comfy but the pillows were not. The ensuite would benefit from a heated towel rail to dry the towels. TV would be better located on the wall at the end of bed. It's a shame that the four poster bed did not have the drapes, and consequently looked a bit odd. We would book again if we were in the area.

Owner Response:Thanks for the feedback, we will be upgrading the bathrooms as soon as we are able but only completed the purchase of the property just before lockdown ended so were not able to all the things that probably need doing. we will try to re-site the TV's when we are able to do re wiring as we are limited to where there is power for them and in your room there is no power on that wall at all. we will look at the pillows too although i know we have replaced a lot of them.

Greig & Laura have created a welcoming and comfortable guest house and we thoroughly enjoyed our recent 4-night stay. The room was spacious, quiet and clean with good tea/coffee facilities. The room was conveniently located for the on site car park and the outside gardens were pretty and well maintained. We enjoyed the home made breakfast 'packs' each morning and the Lavazza coffee machine in the room was most welcome. Laura and Greig were friendly, made our dogs feel welcome and accommodated our requests with good grace. We would recommend a stay at the Hillcrest Whitby.
Tips:We have scored the location a 4 as it is around a 15 minute walk into the main Whitby harbour, where the restaurants, beaches and Abbey are located. There is parking available in the main area at around £2.50 per hour, so it was a little expensive to park there all day.

Absolutely wonderful hotel, ideal location, great being able to park. The beds were super comfy. Loved the breakfast basket for the room the breakfast sandwiches were awesome. Greig, Laura and all the staff were really nice people. We will definitely return. Thanks so much.

Lovely place with clean and comfortable accommodation, friendly hosts with good communication. Bed was comfy, bathroom and shower great too. Breakfast was lovely, really enjoyed it and grateful for the parking space whilst we had a walk around the town. Space was a bit tight, TV didn’t work (sound but no picture), wardrobe door hinges are broken and the extra cleaning cost for the dog seemed a bit unnecessary given I’m pretty confident he didn’t cause any extra work. Thanks for a pleasant stay.
